The planning of the site of the former abbey answers 3 items : enlightening the natural biodiversity of the site by preserving it, valorising the fortified site and the remains of the abbey by the creation of an interpretative centre, and then, promote the site to attract tourists.

A landscaped parking will be created at the entrance of the site. A trail will be planned throughout the site with ‘trees” as a thread on the paths, leading to a point of view on the tower. The theme of “trees” will be displayed on the every subject: religious architecture and spirituality, military architecture, farmland criss-crossed by hedges and trees, surrounding landscapes, peculiar vegetation of the Flanders’s hills.

 Moreover, two supporting elements will be created: a visitor centre and a pavilion dealing with the theme of tree.
